Rhino lining

Has anyone Rhino-lined the inside(cab) of their truck?

I'm thinkig of doing this as protection for the metal and wood on my Burb. I'd top the front with a rubber mat like the original.

I did have the new gas tank done.

I have shot many trucks and cars inside the vehicle with Rhino and it just depends on which gun they are using is how much volume it can put down. If its the new style I put down five coats on the floor and three on the sides. If its the old style low pressure system it goes on very heavy. Its either Rhino or rubberized paintable undercoating from Evercoat, either works well. You just have to mark all the holes you do not want filled when getting the Rhino otherwise your re-tapping threads or drilling out the holes.

I've been considering that as well. However, I'm still torn between Rhino or Lizard Skin. Although, I am leaning toward Lizard Skin.

Rhino has the toughness. Once its on, its on. However, besides getting in and out of the cab, it really doesnt take much of a beating.

On the other hand, with my Cummins and its turbos as well as the exhaust just inches under my firewall/floor, the insulating properties of the Lizard Skin is very appealing. Lizzard skin also has the added benefit of acoustic deadening. I would guess that Rhino will also have an affect on sound but I dont know how much.

I also understand that both are paintable.

An added benefit to either is that they both claim to be environmentally friendly. Maybe someone who has used both will have some more info for us.

However cost is another thing. From what I can tell, the Rhino is at least 50% cheaper (when using both lizard skin formulas)

i have thought about this as well. my biggest concern is getting it in the debris drains in the rockers, cab corners, etc....

between rhino and lizard, i'd go lizard skin - there are 2 types of lizard that can be put down together, one for heat and one for sound. (they may offer a of combo type now, not sure).

every rhino lining spray i've ever seen leaves a VERY thick coat and that seems like it would cause some issues inside a cab.

For me - painting with POR 15 has always, always turned into a giant mess. But then again, that's just me, might have something to do with my painting prowess, or lack thereof.

You might try out Raptor Liner. I have used it on 2-3 vehicles and it has always held up great even on a Jeep TJ rockcrawler. You can get a whole kit off of ebay including the guns to shoot it for around a 125. More than enough to do 4-5 coats on the underside of the fenderwells, inside of the cab and the interior bedsides and pretty easy to do.

I thought about doing this on an old mud truck, but that was stuff that you rolled on instead of sprayed. I thought it was all rolled on

My buddy owns a Rhino shop. It's where I'm working on my truck with his help. He'll Rhino it for cheap.

So I guess I should ask, any reason NOT to Rhino it?

I guess it *could* seal in some problems but you can get that with paint too so really nothing other than the feel should be different.

About the only reason not to rhino, at least as far as I can tell, is that once its on, its on. If for any reason you need to do any kind of repair/change, it would be a ***** to get it off.

Other than that, I dont think there would be any drawbacks. Especially since you said you would cover it with a rubber mat.

I've got Dupli-color Bed Armor in mine. Seems to hold up pretty well... They're probably all about the same though.... Good Luck!

Whatever you do don't rhino line over any wood surface it traps the moiture in the boards and rots them!! The guy who I bought my truck from did this and ruined the wood bed. The inside of my cab was also rhino lined and it works great and has held up to abuse well.

you could just line the tops and sides of the boards and you should not have any moisture problems

Haven't done the inside roof but my inside doors are bedliner and all around door framing.

One other thing about rhino is you can just leave it glossy if you prefer. Texture doesn't have to be done. I don't texture the underside of the bed or wheel wells as it makes cleaning with a hose much easier. I will have pictures up in about a month or so because I'm rhinoing about 85% of my new project truck.
