AC rehab question
Hi I have a 1972 4x4 1/2 ton Delux with factory ac, everything on the cab side is still there but the condensor, drier, compressor, lines are long gone. The unit in the cab has plastic caps on it and I believe the POA valve is still there. I have a compressor from a 1990 suburban and was wondering if I could use it on my old system. What parts do I need to restore the ac? I have a 396 bb and 4 speed trans in it now was a 350/350 from the factory. Also does anyone know how rare the chrome ashtray/glove box doors are I have only seen one other like mine. Thanks for your help.

Re: AC rehab question
You would need all the big block brackets and pulleys. If you have all the acessories for a '90 Suburban with a 454 you could use them all. I would lean towards a new Sanden compressor and brackets. Then you need a new condensor, dryer, hard lines, soft/header line, and a new expansion valve at least. a/c systems have to be clean. I would remove the evaporator and flush it well. Good luck with it.

Re: AC rehab question
I would just buy Vintage Air at this point.

Re: AC rehab question
ashtray and glovebox door are just aftermerket parts. nothing special about them. unless your the guy who has lady friends that were short skirts..... then theres a reason for them besides shining in your face while your driving.
