Going to look at a 1968 Chevy C-10 SWB

Hello, my name is Tom and I live in Central Massachusetts. I am going to go look at a Chevy truck today to see if it is something I want to restore. I usually work on hotrods such as old Ford coupes, first-gen Camaros, and Tri-Five Chevy's. The truck is pretty reasonably priced and is running and driving. The truck has been sitting for almost 10 years stored inside. I know the drivers side fender is garbage and the passenger side rear had a large dent "fixed." One thing that is nice for the trucks is the parts for these seem pretty reasonable compared to parts for some of the other cars I work on. The truck was recently moved out of its storage and is sitting outside now. It is a 6 cylinder 3 on the tree. Let me know what you think...I'll keep you posted.

I'd keep the original paint on that one. All one color still. Very nice.

Re: Going to look at a 1968 Chevy C-10 SWB

looks like a 2WD version of mine...

Check for rust on the windshield frame, above the mirror, firewall, under the dash and of course the floor... Normal spots to be gone are the rockers and cab corners, anything beyond that can mean big trouble for the cab...

All body panels and the entire floor are made in Taiwan now. The upper portion of the cab (floor and up) can be a pain in the butt...

If you pass on it please send me the details, msgross@hotmail.com....

Another observation I have for you is that while parts are more reasonable for trucks, completed trucks typically don't fetch a lot of money as compared to the cars you mention, so it's pretty easy to get upside down in these if you don't watch out.

I would jump on that deal in a heart beat as long as it is priced accordingly.People around here would want $3,000-$3,500 for that type of truck even being a plan jane. What is the person asking for it?

I wouldn't give it a second thought, It would already be on my trailer for that price! But like legend56bc stated above, people around here want just stupid money for theses trucks.

Re: Going to look at a 1968 Chevy C-10 SWB

It is worth it all day long for $1200. Are the 67/68's rare with the BBW? The right rear bed panel seems full of bondo though.

Re: Going to look at a 1968 Chevy C-10 SWB

I bought the truck! I can't pick it up til later next week as the owner is going away on vacation. The right rear quarter is full of bondo as well as the drivers side front fender. The truck was partially repainted. The truck runs great, and all it needs is wheel cylinders. The truck has no options as verified by the glove box door. The truck as 45, 136 original miles on it and originally from Vermont. The truck was last on the road in 2000. I plan on dropping it 4" in the front and 6" in the rear and putting on some torque thrusts and driving the P$^@ out of it!
