Re: template for headliner
You could tape some masking paper to the ceiling and trace it, transfer it to a piece of cardboard to make final adjustments and transfer that to some 1/8" Masonite or whatever you're going to make your headliner out of. Should be pretty easy.

Re: template for headliner
Hey Coop, maybe I can help. I think it would be really tough to actually make a template as the roof is concave and a non-headliner truck is different.
Here is what I would do...get the headliner and trim, glue the liner up where you want it (the factory glued em up too) and remove all the tabs from the back of the trim and tape it together like it's going to be installed, have someone help hold it in place and put the screws in where they go. I would put some extra screws in it evenly spaced and your done. There would be no weight on the trim so it should work, you could use some adhesive on the trim too just for good measure. Good luck bro.

Re: template for headliner
thats a good idea Reno, I'll look into that. I do not have the trim yet. I thought there were clips that held the trim on ??

Now if you are building a show truck or 100% resto the extra screws would be a dead give-away that it didn't come like that but I think the roof contours are different anyway. You might be able to get away without extra screws too, just have to try it and see. Here is a pic of my factory slots (zoom in to check them out, the black is heat absorbant paint)....would be a lot of extra work in my opinion. I have not done this myself but it should work.
