I'm considering takin off the box on my truck and makin a wooden flat bed for it. would this be a bad idea? its a 1/2 ton LWB the beds in great shape...it's primer gray and would be up for sale. but i'd want a buyer before i went to the trouble to do it and then have a bed layin around. any ideas?

I personally like the way a well done flatbed looks. That said I would remind you it is a 1/2 ton and will not be much of a hauler. If you ever want to sell it,the value will be decreased because a restorer or truck nut like you find on this BB will probably want a stock bed.If you do use a flatbed make a metal frame to support it so it will stay strong and look good for a long time.In the end it's your truck and you should do what you want with it.

I am building a flatbed for my 72 as we speak, and I also kept a nice set of bedsides just in case i want to switch back. I am using the stock frame mounts so it will be a straight bolt up between the 2 beds. Check out the pics I posted at these threads for a bunch of flatbed pics
