69 C-10 disc brake conversion help!

Hey guys, I'm doing front disc conversion and need a little help. I bought the stainless line kit from CPP. Also bought booster / mast cyl / & prop. valve from Pirate jack.

My main question: The stock front drum set up had 1 line running to the proportioning valve, that split into two and fed the front drums.

The new set up I bought has two small holes, and one large. (Im guessing each front now needs its own line? Or can I plug one of the holes and run the new front disc set up off 1 line off the prop. valve?

Pics below of where I am now. The lines look like puzzle pieces that done fit. (awesome) lol

Plug the top hole on the front.
That's what I did with mine.
You will need a "inverted flare" plug.

If you are talking about the T connector for the front brakes down by the crossmember, then you should be using all 3 sides, once for each caliper and one for the prop valve. The line comming from the back of the prop valve goes to the rear brakes and has a straight through connector.

He's talking about the extra front port on the aftermarket prop valve.

Re: 69 C-10 disc brake conversion help!

Joe 69 C10, you said you got your MC from Pirate Jack. I got this first image from their web page. If this is the same MC, you are connecting your lines up backwards.
lolife99, your MC looks to be the same one and yours is backwards as well.

The rear of the Pirate MC has the larger reservoir and must be connected to the front disc brake calipers.
Drum brake MC does not need a large reservoir, because the shoes are adjusted as they wear either by the owner/mechanic or the brakes are self adjusting.
Disc brake calipers do not have any means of adjustment. With that small reservioir feeding two calipers, the MC will run out of fluid and start pumping air when the pads are worn about half way.

When that combination valve is mounted under the radiator on the crossmember, it also serves as the distribution block for left/right front brakes. I don't know what year they moved it down there.

Re: 69 C-10 disc brake conversion help!

My m/c has two equal size reservoirs.
(you can tell by looking at the lid)
Just like the old corvette master cylinders.
It's an aftermarket set up from PerformanceOnline.
It's designed to work with their disc/drum prop valve.
Works great on my '69.

The prop valve you posted is indeed different.
It's a 73-87 frame mounted version (in front of the engine) unlike the 67-72 style that hangs under the M/C.
