Need help with motor mounts!
Hi all,
I am at the end of my chain here!! I am in the process of converting my 67 GMC from v-6 to v-8 and cannot get the motor mounts to line up. I pulled the 305 V-6 and am attempting to place a 70-73 Camaro 350 in. I have the stock mounts that bolt into the frame on and the mounts that bolt into the engine block in place. I bolted them both together then bolted them to the block. When I lower into the truck I am about 1 1/2" off on either side so the factory holes do not line up. I know this conversion has been done more times than I can count so I have to be missing something simple. Is there a spacer that is needed that I am missing.... I looked at LMC and Brothers and they both show the same mount that I already have and is pictured below. Please help as I really would like to get the truck back on the road this weekend! |

Re: Need help with motor mounts!
Are you using the frame stands that were used with the v6? I have never done a v6 to v8 swap but have done a few i6 to v8 and they require different stands to work rights. Btw SBC and BBC stands are different as well. 72 BBC stands are altogether different, more like 73 up mounts

Re: Need help with motor mounts!
Roninwolf,
Did you use the same motor mounts on the block that I have pictured? Thanks! |

Re: Need help with motor mounts!
I would recommend aquiring used frame stands from a 67 to 72 Chevrolet truck with a V8 to eliminate any guesswork. Most engine crossmembers are already pre drilled for L6, V6, or V8 applications since Chevrolet and GMC share the same frames.. Take note of where the frame pedestals are located on the crossmember from the donor truck and utilize the same location points on yours.. Your engine mounts should drop right on..
