lets see if i got what it takes!
this my 69 c10 i bought it for $400 over a year ago and let it sit till this past week. ive never welded in body panels before but im gonna give it a try . the under side looks great except floor panels cause it was oil sprayed. the fenders and inner fender where shot but i already had those laying around. i got a 72 402 from a friend i plan to use with the 3 on the tree set up till i can afford a 5 speed. with my beautiful wife mandy allowing alot of extra weekend time with it i hope to get it looking good. wish me luck

Re: lets see if i got what it takes!
what i thought was gonna be a simple fix turned out to be a little bit more involved. the rust never seemed to stop! this was my first attempt at welding sheetmetal . i was using .025 mild steel wire any one think i should try a diffrent wire . i was burning through at first with the welder turned all the way down but after turning up gas i had more luck. whats the gap between panels i should have? is about the gap of a cutting wheel a good gap?

Re: lets see if i got what it takes!
Nice start. Keep it up.
When my wife lets me play in the shop for long extended amounts of time I take her out to her favorite place to eat. hint hint On welding sheet metal I use .023 solid core wire in my little Lincoln sp100(more info in vid on my thread) with 75-25 mix. There are other members you can see, RexDodge is a real good source along with many others. Remember, take your time and go slow so as you don't warp the sheet metal. watchin' |

Bomp is right. Take your time. Practice on some scrap pieces welding at all angles (horizontal, vertical, overhead) till you get a good feel for it. Don't try to run a bead, just tack a inch apart and jump around when the heat dissipates. Good luck!

Looks like a good start! Is it gonna end up lifted, or just stock height?
