project norminator
my first project 1966 chevt short bed step side.
i bought this truck in march of 2012 just starting on . the truck starts,run's and drive's. the last owner did a complete brake job on it. this project will be a slow project and hope to have it done by summer of 2013. here's some pics of what i'm starting with, |

well i removed the bed so i could remove the upper rear shock cross member which was rusted out.
and look what i found.i took the truck to my friends chassie shop on 9/8/2012for the frame to be repaired and some frame boxing and bracing will be done on the frame. |

the process i used to weld the tops and bottoms of my trailing arms for added support. they need to be boxed in yet.

here's a pic of the truck coming out of the trailer from the chassie shop
which shows the fuel cell he built. the cell will be mounte under neath the frame and stick up about 1 inch above the top of the frame. no fill or fittins have been installed yet untill i deciede where i want them |

here's how i ended up doing my trailing arm's there boxed in 18 to 20 inche's down the the side's and 6 inche;s down the the top's and bottom's at the bushing end.
i think this will add some good strength and still allow a little flex for on the street |

thank you. so if i do drop springs and blocks like you i could go even lower? i wanna do 5 inch springs in the rear of my truck. would it be better to do 2 inch blocks and 3 inch springs or just 5 inch springs. does doing the blocks help out in some way? sweet truck so far also!

lowering blocks wont affect the ride as much as lowering springs.
if I was going to lower my truck lower the 2 inchs I would use lowering blocks and shorter springs but that just me. thanks norm |
