Project "Barney"
Guess Ill start a build thread. Starting off with my 74 Cheyenne Super, its been sitting for 11 years. I just built a 350 mild with comp cam and 2.02 heads. I have a t400 trans now, but Im getting a 700r4 soon. Was going to do a BBC, but I changed my mind. Just rebuilt the front suspension with new ball joints, new bushings and new drop spindles with cross drilled rotors. Swapped out the rear springs for newer ones and a flip kit. Drop will be a 5"/7".

Pulled the cab off and started cleaning the frame. Next will be to do a notch then paint the frame with POR15 semi-gloss.

Re: Project "Barney"
The battery destroyed my passenger side front fender, inner fender, and lower part of core support. Found a guy on craigs list who has a yard full of parts. Got a fender, inner fender, core support, and a 1 ton sway bar all pretty cheap.

Re: Project "Barney"
Got some more new parts in the other day. Been working on wire wheeling the frame. Should be doing my C-notch this weekend then the frame will be ready for the semi-gloss Por15. I recieved my Western Chassis 2 1/2" drop springs to go with my 2 1/2" drop spindles. Lower swaybar brackets and a 1 1/4" swaybar from a 1 ton dually to replace my stock 1 1/16" swaybar.

Re: Project "Barney"
POR15 didnt turn out how I liked. Didnt like the satin either. Decided to powdercoat in gloss and I will be painting the truck in satin black with Hotrod Flatz. Heres how it sits currently. Every nut and bolt has been replaced with new.

Installed the motor/trans. Started on the front suspension. Waiting on new bushings for the rear leafs, then they go on. Cleaning up and painting steering box and linkage too.

Re: Project "Barney"
Havent made alot of progress, but some is better then none. I have the long 8 spring packs. I removed 3 leafs on each side, then removed the rubber/steel bushings. Found out on the HD springs that the front bushing is a bigger size. Then wire wheeled them, painted satin black and installed the new bushings.

Re: Project "Barney"
Painted the front steering satin black then I cleared the tierods to give them the stock look without rusting. Wire wheeled the rear end and sprayed it the same color as the motor/trans. Driveshaft will get same paint also after I get new u-joints.

Re: Project "Barney"
Well I traded one of my t400s for a built 700r4. It has a shift kit and nice stall with it. So Ill be painting it and swapping out the t400 that currently sits in my frame. While Im at it, Im going to swap out the 3.40 geared 12 bolt to my other 12 bolt with 3.73 gears. Since I have 2 trucks, I have the extra parts. Makes it easier and more cost effective. More pics to come soon.
