Hood Hinges
Well I called the local Chevy dealer and the guy said no way he could order hood hinges for my 71. Oh well...
I ordered a set from here though... http://www.hoodhingerepair.com/contactus.html Rebuilt with all new ribets & springs. Powder coated chrome for $210.00 no shipping. No cores unless I want $35.00 back. I don't think it's worth the shipping though. I will see after I get them. I may try and fix them my self are some place local.

Re: Hood Hinges
OK the hinges showed up at 12:00 pm today. Very well packaged and all I can say is they look great.
3 layers of bubble wrap, with news paper under that with Pop Corn to boot! Thanks Willie: I would recommend these guy's for all your stock hinges repair. Here they are installed already. Have some minor adjusting to do but they are good and tight and the back of the hood is down like it should be. Here are some gap pictures. The cowl and hood look good and the passenger side. Driver side looks to be off a little so I will play with it to split the differance. http://www.hoodhingerepair.com/contactus.html

Re: Hood Hinges
Thanks,
I'm going to do some more adjusting tonight are tomorrow. I just got back from the dump and a guy comes up and ask if it was mine...Yes it is, the guy say's I got some new AC hoses for under the dash if u want them. I checked them out and said yea I'll take it. I got a new hose for the driverside AC ball that I've been needing for free. Both deforst hoses to! It's the plastic stuff but it's better than my old stock stuff!

Re: Hood Hinges
Whoa Dude !
That is one sweet truck ! Them hinges are pretty darn sweet as well. I greased mine up this afternoon and noticed one of my rivets has a lot of slop in it. Thats probably why mine wont lay down right in the back without a little help from me... Thank You for these pictures and the link to where you got these hinges ! I definitely need a set. I tried all the tricks to get it to lay down but nothing worked. U can try the hood trick on yours first. Open it and loosen all the hood fender bolts just enough to push up on the hood a little. Hold it there and tighten the bolts back down. I got it off another hood hinge post. U can send them yours if you want are do as I did and buy a set he will knock $35.00 off the price once u send yours to him.

Re: Hood Hinges
This looks like something I may be doing in the future. Mine is to the point it won't lay flat in the back at all now, even after I push it down.

I'm trying to get some minor stuff fixed on it before the 2013 Pour Tour. Planning right now to drive out to Texas and back to Charlotte. Hope to have all these minor problems done by then.

Re: Hood Hinges
Yeah, I'm planning to do the "long Haul" myself! I'd like to have A/C installed by then, but that's not possible unless I win the lottery. I've also got a few minor issues to take care of before then.

Yeah, but she don't like me driving her Stang. She claims I'm mean to it!! I'm just cleaning the carbon out.

Re: Hood Hinges
I've tried that, but she grew up riding horses, so she knows how they're supposed to be ridden. I might have to try a different approach.

Re: Hood Hinges
There we go, it's a Mustang, a wild, untamed horse that needs to be free!!
Back on subject, I talked with Willie last night. I'm going to get my hinges repaired this winter. I'm so glad you posted about this. I was considering going with porterbuilt hinges which are a bit more expensive, and would require much more by the time I would be done putting them on my truck(paint repair, etc.) I'll still have to get my hinges repainted, but that won't be too bad.

Re: Hood Hinges
Yes I looked at the porter hinges but they are way out of my league + they wouldn't fit the theme of the truck as it is now. They are very nice and look great just not with in my pocket book right now.
Willie sent me a thank you E-mail for the people contacting him. Thanks It's a win, win for everyone!
