How much to pay for a set of doors?

How much should I pay for a couple of doors for my 87 single cab. With power windows and locks. From a junkyard.

Re: How much to pay for a set of doors?

Interesting question. But WHY? How much are they worth to you? If you need doors and they are for sale near you and you can afford it. BUY THEM.
You can never get ripped off on something you need, If they are worth that amount to you. Buy them.
I sold 2 front doors from a 4 dr to a guy. for 50.00 each. He drives up and said, I thought they were 50.00 for the pair. They were Beautiful Black doors with manual windows. All complete down to interior panels and hinges and Keys.
He pays me the 100.00 and drives away.
3 months later he calls me and says. Hey I want my money back, Says "I took them all apart and I took them down to bare metal. There is a little bondo in the bottom of them"
I said Sorry they are yours. Kicker is that he had a so-so truck that was already black color. He could have bolted them on and been fine.
I gave these doors away at 50.00 each.
I should have charged him 100.00 each. But then if I dont need them they are worth nothing. If I need them they are worth 150.00 ea.

Kind of like having a broken window in winter and it is snowing. Are you going to argue over the amount to change out the window or move on and keep the snow out?
What are they worth???

Re: How much to pay for a set of doors?

I've seen them for $75-$100 per door at salvage yards. Some of the yards won't even discount if you get a stripped down partial door with glass removed, etc. Same price regardless of condition.

Honestly, I think there are better deals to be had in this instance via Craigslist, etc and buying from an individual. Prices have appeared to be lower in the few searches I have done in the past.

Re: How much to pay for a set of doors?

Mine need some bodywork. They are pretty dented up. It looks like someone had a go at repairing them, but they never finished the job. They look like junk to me, but who knows. They might look just fine to a bodyman who is going to repair them for me.

I'm tired of of looking at the junky looking doors, plus I thought it might save me some money when I go to have the truck painted. Less work for the body guy.

Re: How much to pay for a set of doors?

$50-$75 is about what the general going rate is around here. Now this might be totally different in the rust belt, good sheetmetal goes for a good but more up there.

Re: How much to pay for a set of doors?

I usually sell complete, straight, rust free doors for $100. If they have damage or missing parts the price comes down from there. If the door is pretty crappy but usable with glass it is $50. That being said, most people around here think I am overpriced on doors. I figure they aren't eating anything.

EDIT: Just to be clear I am not offering to sell anything. I don't sell parts on this forum, only local CL.

Re: How much to pay for a set of doors?

Well does anyone know what doors I should be looking at? Here are my plans:

I am going to use silverado embossed door panels, and I'm going to be running power locks and windows. Is there any door I shouldn't use? Perhaps some of the older ones aren't going to work well with the power windows and locks?

I'm also going to add some relays so all the window buttons are auto up and down. They're at an awkward angle and they're kind of hard to press.

1973-1976 don't have enough room inside for the factory power window regulator setup, that's why they were slightly redesigned for the 1977 model year with the bigger door panels.

You want a 1977-1987 C/K series truck door, or a door from a 1988-1991 Blazer/Jimmy/Suburban or the big heavy duty R/V series trucks that kept the old body style.
