Question change frames help

can you put 1966 c10 on a 74 frame or is there a better change

It's best to keep the original frame.

Been there done that and I always recommend against it if at all possible for a 2wd application. It's not a simple swap, and requires a good bit of fabrication. Here is a thread I started showing the results of the one I did years ago.

Aside from the appearance, you have the legal aspect of the frame swap in your state. Here in Idaho, you run the risk of having your vehicle confiscated if you get caught changing bodies and frames, and not following the guidelines of the motor vehicle laws.

Unless your original frame is completely junk, I would suggest just changing the front suspension and possibly the rear end to the '71-'87 components.
