Re: Any other Travelall owners out there?
My Dad has my Grandad's 2wd 1971 Travelall in L.A. 345 engine. Was for towing their Boles Aero trailer back in the day. He bought it new. We had one with a 392. Beast. Grandad's is a garage queen now. From what I hear, finding parts is a chore. They supposedly used the best of everything, which made them less competitive as a manufacturer. Active club. Enjoy!

Vbjunker, finding parts is a real chore. Mine has some rust issues so that will be a challenge finding good sheet metal, if I keep it that is. I have too much stuff but this runs so good it's hard to bring myself to get rid of it. I have pulled a trailer with over a ton of rock in it uphill to my house with this thing sitting as low as it is right now. yeah, I got some looks. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Any other Travelall owners out there?
As a teen I helped my dad replace a broken torsion bar on our '71 in Bisbee, AZ. towing a 28 foot Holiday Rambler. Took a couple of days for the part to arrive, so we camped out at a truck stop. Several vacations we had some show stoppers like that. My grandad had better luck, and that truck has been stored inside its whole life. Dad used ours like a beast of burden. Our theory was that the darned thing was just too heavy for its underpinnings. The brakes were always almost good enough.
Last year my dad asked if I wanted him to ship Grandpa's Travelall East to VA. Family memories, but not sure it fits my life now. Definitely can't see my wife digging it, as the Stepside is even a stretch for her. Love the classic look of the corn binder though. I'll be watching your build. Posted via Mobile Device |
