A/C selector switch...upsidedown/backwards?
A while back I had to change the actuator on my blend door. Got that fixed and of course the plastic piece on the door broke. No problem, ordered another piece. Finally got around to installing and thought I was going to be in business. WRONG!
As I move the selector switch from left to right, the door operates opposite what I want it to do. When it's on the A/C cycles, air blows on the floor and the door looks like the 2nd pic. When it's on heat and defrost, it blows the air through the vents and the door looks like the 1st pic. I tried turning the vacuum selector switch upside down, but that didn't do anything. I did replace it a while back because I thought it was the problem before I realized it was the actuator. Do they make different ones? It's been a while, but I do believe I remember working correctly before all of this. Thanks for any suggestions!!!

Re: A/C selector switch...upsidedown/backwards?
I'm recently going through my dash right now, but I'm not an expert.
Is that door vacuum operated? If so, is it possible you have a vacuum line hooked up wrong on the vacuum select?

Re: A/C selector switch...upsidedown/backwards?
It is vacuum operated. The vacuum lines don't seem to want to come out of the rubber boot on the selector switch, but I didn't pull too hard on them. I didn't see any misc. hoses lying around. Seems like it would be easy to switch them, but I don't remember messing with all that when I changed it a while back.

The blend door actuator is actuated both ways, could you have the lines on it reversed?

Re: A/C selector switch...upsidedown/backwards?
There's only one line going to the back that I remember. I sure hope it's easier to fix than the line on the actuator, cause I'm not in the mood to take that thing back off.
It may be at the selector switch, but the lines are in some soft plastic looking thing and they look pretty secure in there.

Post #8 IIRC the lines on the selector switch are bundled and indexed to only install one way.

Re: A/C selector switch...upsidedown/backwards?
First off...I have your post bookmarked. That was an excellent write up and got me through changing my heater core/actuator.
When I go and look at your pic again I see TWO connections Now that I think about it, I think that one was smaller than the other and I just made them fit in what I thought was the logical spot. Guess I don't have any choice but to yank it back out because I know I had a heck of a time getting them on in the first place. Maybe I can loosen them enough to get my hand back there.

I hate it for you. My first replacement actuator lasted about a month, had to do it all over again. I had to go back and look through my posts. Getting older sucks.

Well, I guess it's gonna suck this weekend...but something that needs to be done. Back to your writeup I reckon
Wait, just had a thought. Wonder if I figure out which two lines they are at the vacuum selector, cut the lines and splice them back into each other with some larger vacuum line?
