2wd vs 4wd exhaust
I found a full dual exhaust for a longbed on CL recently http://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/pts/3297579119.html but it's for a 4wd. I'm wondering what differences it would have past the firewall. Would it kick out around the transfer case, or would it be there anyway because of the header? This is a header thru tailpipe setup, and with my budget I'm looking for deals I can snag that will leave me money for other things.
If this will work on a 2wd longbed, then I'm gonna snag it before someone else does. I'm kinda guessing there may be something different. |

Re: 2wd vs 4wd exhaust
looks to me like they ran it under the transfer case anyway, shouldn't matter.... Make sure that the headers fit with your tranny setup (clutch vs auto)... drivers side would be the big difference on that part...
Offer him a little less and go for it... A good muffler shop could easily fix any small issues that you might have.

Re: 2wd vs 4wd exhaust
You should be able to run these with no problem. If it's close by, take a trip to make sure the there isn't any holes in the headers, pipes, and mufflers. Have him show you how it was ran along the frame rails. If the muffler shop ran it right, it should have ran a little lower than the frame rails and should clear everything.

Re: 2wd vs 4wd exhaust
Well it's 150 miles from me in Central oregon, so I'd have to be pretty confident I'm gonna buy it if I go. My muffler guy in town quoted me $250 for a Y pipe and single 3", because i already have a 3" Flowmaster I pulled off my Silverado. I'd rather have duals, but $150 isn't that much of a savings if i have to have it fixed or changed. Also, I'm dropping my truck 3/5, so I'm a little concerned about clearence. I know 3/5 isn't that low, but I don't wanna lose the exhaust on a speed bump! LOL!!!

Re: 2wd vs 4wd exhaust
In that case, I would just have the exhaust shop build you a custom setup since you are dropping it. Depending how far that puts your truck to the ground, you are not going to want to run long tube headers. I would also wait to have the exhaust installed until after you get it dropped.

Re: 2wd vs 4wd exhaust
I assume the 4X4 had leaf springs and your 2WD has coils. If so, that may be a problem. Not 100% sure though.

Re: 2wd vs 4wd exhaust
It's not worth the gas money and time to go get it... Stick with a new custom setup from your local shop... less issues.
