BB Serpentine Setup

On my quest to get better gas mileage I've beenn thinking about going to an electric fan and serpentine setup for my BB. I have a stock 1968 396 in my 72and am wondering if anyone knows if the serpentine setups from the 80's and 90's 454's will bolt to my engine. I dont have A/C put plan on it down the road and wonder do serpentine setups work without A/C.

my 96 454 has serpentine, and my dad had a newer motor just like it in his 73, he put the old style setup on it. I think the blocks/heads have the right bolts holes and stuff to switch between the two belt systems. I just know they don't have a port for the mechanical fuel pump on the newer motors, and the intake bolt pattern is different when they went to vortec in 96, but the heads still interchange and like i said so should the belt sytems. Also just do the conversion with the a/c pump on there, it will just sit there unless power is put to the electo-clutch thing witch engages the pump. If you don't hook up the wiring to the a/c pump it just free spins, and you have it for later.
