92 sport info..

last truck was an 86 c10 short wide.
now i just picked up a 92 sport..short and ill say wide.

plan to drop the truck. 86 had a 5-7 kit on it.
coils, springs, spindles, notch and shackles i think.

kit cost me around 900 from cpp

not looking to drop truck tomorrow. buying a house so money is tight

i remember on the 86, i just had exhaust done. new. then the guy who lowered truck cut my new exhaust. dont want that again. 92 could use exhaust but gonna drive it as is till i get the truck lowered.

not sure if 5-7 kits are out there. or 4-6 is the option....saw some kit that have control arms to lower front. think i want spindles..
if i can do it little by little or better off waiting and buying all parts then install in spring.

can i run headers with a 4-6 or 5-7 drop? if so shorties?
any good priced kits out there for under 900??

i lower all of my vehicles, car or truck one way or the other.

i did the rear and notch on my 85. but did not mess with the spindles....didnt want to damage front end parts.
im new to these year truck. big fan of the c10s.
this is my daily. will most likely stay high...stock. till after winter.

appreciate any info.

Re: 92 sport info..

You should be able to piece together a 5/7 kit.
I suggest a 4/6 for a more streetable drop.
Definitely use drop spindles and springs up front.
Drop pocket a-arms like the old DJM arms,... are out of date, (in my opinion).
There are much better ways to lower a truck than "hanging the coil spring out the bottom of the a-arm".

I haven't lowered a 88-98 truck in over 15 years.
Maybe someone else could tell you where to get the best deals.
Just stay away from AirBagIt.com junk.
I suggest Belltech, McGaughy's or Western Chassis for parts.

What ^^he^^ said!

I had an 89 with a 5/7 drop. It was c-notched in the rear with I believe a flip kit and shackles (all Beltech stuff best I could tell). It came with air shocks on it, and if you didn't have a decent amount of air in them it would bottom out on everything but a SMALL bump. Not to mention it would drag the belly on fairly common uneven ground.

Don't get me wrong, it looked cool, and if the road was smooth, no complaints. But if you plan on driving it a lot, or putting ANYTHING in the bed, I don't think I'd go that low. I think mine also only had 17" wheels with some pretty short tires, so that didn't help my dragging situation either.
