Timing on an 87
Ok tell me how to set the initial timing of this 87. It's computer controlled so, what I need to know is, if I remove the distributor and reinstall, ow do I set the initial. What do I set it at.

Re: Timing on an 87
I set my 87 timing to factory spec. With the single wire on the driver side firewall unpluged. You set the timing @ 0 degrees. Mines a 305 v8

Re: Timing on an 87
Ok that was my question, was there a single wire that has to be disconnected. Thanks, that's what I needed BTW, mine is a 5.7

Re: Timing on an 87
Ok so I got a 87 with a 350 and tbi and what you guys are saying is that I have to disconnet that brown wire to set the timeing even though the distributor is electronic.

Re: Timing on an 87
Yes, it's just disabled the computer so the base timing can be set. Then you hook it back up and the engine takes over

Re: Timing on an 87
the timing wouldn't be right, with that connected the computer is adjusting the timing even at idle.
