Your 66 cab may not fit the dodge frame well. I would do the motor and trans swap. The 12v cant have that much wiring . I would probably swap rear axles, fuel tanks, and radiators ect. You may have to swap new front springs to the 66 front end to support that beast of a 12v. Just my opinion.

Somewhere here are a couple pics of a '64-'66 body installed on a 2500 4x4 Dodge chassis and running gear with the Cummins. The owner is a member here, but I don't remember his user name.

Re: 1966 c30 cummins
Hmm... Well maybe the body would fit the frame easier then I had assumed...

The 66 has been n my family for about 30 years it belonged to my great grandfather. It was used to haul cattle, corn, and coal. Jus a basic farm truck. It has a sbc and four speed... Thanks for the replies guys :-)

Re: 1966 c30 cummins
I was thinking of doing the same thing with one of my 66 c30s. I may just do a IB4 cummins swap, &disc brakes, but would love to do just a cab swap to a dodge/cummins or late model chevy 3500. if you find any out about this I would love to know...

Re: 1966 c30 cummins
Is that a 1/2 ton frame with a 12v? Have a build thread on this or specs?

Re: 1966 c30 cummins
Yes. I started a build thread a long time ago but havnt done anything with the thread in a long time. It's a slow moving project that only gets tinkered with on weekends. If that.
But the motor and trans mock-up is done. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 1966 c30 cummins
Good luck on it and I hope you found a Dana 60 to use in your build as that Cummins will eat the 12 bolt for lunch. Let me know when you get it running and driving!

Re: 1966 c30 cummins
I thought about that and decided that the truck will never see enough traction to eat anything but tires.
