radiator info
im trying to figure out what rad i have so i can get the proper rad hoses, i cant seem to find the right info in my searches on here or good pictures
i dont have any pics of my radiator as its at my friends house but i can get some later today (mon) if needed, i dont think its the original to my truck since the truck used to have a straight six but the frnt clip was changed at one point from a 68 to a 69-72 gmc clip what i do know is its either a 3-4 core rad, it fits in the rad supports and the rad hold downs fit it so i know its from these trucks, 3rd and final is the bottom outlet for the rad hose has an upwards angle to it and this is whats throwing me off, the rad hose that was on there didnt fit very well because of this, so im trying to find out if it came in a big block truck or maybe a 3/4 ton with a 350 and the years it came in so i can get a proper rad hose that fits maybe we can start a sticky for the faq with the different types/styles of radiators and what year trucks they came in 4x4. 1/2 ton, 3/4 tone, 1 ton, bbc, sbc etc maybe even toss in some info on fan shrouds with the same idea too, im sure it would be a good and usefull sticky i will get pics of my rad today |

Re: radiator info
This is very interesting and I hope some people can post some pictures. I have a 1970 gmc 1500 And my lower rad hose is rubbing on the frame rail. Pretty sure it's not supposed to do that. The radiator itself appears to fit correctly and it looks to be all the factory mounts. Are there any spacers that I may be missing from the bottom of the radiator? Even if I could raise it up a 1/4" it would be fine. Maybe it's just the wrong lower hose I have. It's rubbing about 3" or so away from the radiator itself on the top of the frame rail.

Re: radiator info
Mine doesnt have that angled outlet on the bottom. Thats probably why my lower hose is resting on the edge of my frame rail...

Re: radiator info
Looks exactly like the original 4 row in my 69 except for that silver piece (added on?) at the top in picture 3. I've replaced the lower hose several times. The end that goes to the radiator typically needs to be shortened a couple inches to fit. Are you using an original style short water pump?

Re: radiator info
Just get the hoses for a 1972 C10 with 350v-8..worst case you have to trim a bit off.

Re: radiator info
When I worked at auto parts stores if I had a customer that did not know exactly what radiator and engine they had I would suggest they take the diameter measurements of the radiator connection and the water pump and make a mockup of the bends with a coat hanger.
That way we could go look at the hoses we had and figure out what was needed.

Re: radiator info
Why not just buy a flex-a-fit hose?

Re: radiator info
I just bought one of these radiators, how did it fit for you? Did the lower hose rub? Did you have to reroute your heater core hose back to the water pump instead of the radiator?
