Need info, 5.3 4L60e in a 67.

Well, I have cash for a setup and now cant find a setup, must be all the people swapping lol. I do need the mounts, and could use any info I can gather. Ill be doing this myself, Im not a fab guy, so anything making it easier will help tons. Is there a link to a write up to make the stock harness work so the only thing I need sent off is the computer? Also has anyone got their setups from a pick n pull, if so whats the prices?

Re: Need info, 5.3 4L60e in a 67.

I just completed an LS swap in my 68 stepside, and I love it! I purchased my engine and transmission from a boardmember so I can't really help with finding an engine and transmission, but I do have some info on mounts and wiring. Two companies offer mounts that I would suggest, they are Classic Performance Parts (CPP) and Early Classic Enterprises (ECE). I used the ECE LSx swap mounts and transmission crossmember. I am happy with them, however I did find that they needed some massaging to make them fit correctly. Most notably I had to slot the transmission mount and slide it forward about half an inch so that I could get the bolts in. Not a big deal. Their customer support is outstanding and they ship promptly. From what I understand the CPP pieces mount the engine farther rearward if that is what you want. I have not heard anything bad about the quality of the CPP mounts, but getting parts directly from CPP can be a pain. Working with a vendor here on the board who is a CPP distributor is the best advice I can give for that situation. As for the harness, I ordered a harness from PSI ($500) and have been very happy with it. There are videos on youtube that will show you how to strip the excess from your harness if you choose to go that route. Also, using the search fuction here on the board will link you to members who have done their own harness and in many cases they are happy to give advice. For your computer, there are a few vendors (PCMs for Less is one) that can flash your computer to get you started, but what I have found is that it is important to get a road tune to gain the best results. Do an internet search for LS tuners in your area and pick a guy you are comfortable with, as he will be able to support the entire process which will save you time and money. Well, I hope this helps, let me know if I can offer any more info/advice. Good luck with your swap!

I havent been able to search on here for some reason, or any forum at that. I'll look around for engines for sale off here first. Id like to start this over the winter and before I spend the swap money elsewhere lol.

I got my engine, tranny, harness, and computer from a guy in austin tx for 800. Engine had roughly 32k on it before getting pulled. The info for the wiring harness is lt1swap.com and you can buy the motor mounts off cpp

I recommend nelsonpreformance.com for your computer. They provide a great service. And you can request a new one be sent out to you if you do any upgrades to the engine. I believe they do that 1 time for free, except you have to pay shipping and send the current back. They only down side to it, if you ever plan on doing a dyno tune, the computer is locked because they don't want anyone stealing there software. Friend of mine is running one in his truck right now, I drove it before and after. Crazy difference and averages 17mpg in town with his 2005 z71 Extended Cab. My Xtreme Blazer is getting one installed. I also believe they sell or distribute harness for these swaps too. Might be able to bundle them together. They also have awesome customer service.

Did you try www.car-part.com to find your engine?
