New here and my new Suburban
Been visiting the site for years, just now decided to join. Owned and worked on chevys my whole life, just new to suburbans. Always wanted one and finally pulled the trigger on one. Found it on craigslist, payed $3700, probably over payed for it. It'll be ight.
It's an 89 model GMC 2500 4x4 4.10 gears 350 tbi with 65,000 on the rebuilt engine. TH400 tranny. Has rear heat and A/C. Three rows of seating. Power locks manual windows. 3" lift with 305 70 16 BF A/T's. No rust really, just paint in bad shape and a few dents. Weatherstipping is shot but not leaking. Interior is real clean. Don't have pictures of it though. |

Re: New here and my new Suburban
A 3/4 ton 4x4 square Burb with a small lift and no rust is worth a small premium to me, especially if the interior is nice enough. I've been thinking of trying Maaco once and have stopped by to look at some of their work. I can't see where you could go wrong for $500 to $800 on an old truck that will continue to get used. That's a nice ride, congrats on the score. Add some interior shots when you can.

Looks great man, love it! I don't think you overpaid either....especially if there's minimal rust!
Hey, you got one with the rare rear heat! Hardly any of those out there.

Re: New here and my new Suburban
Yeah the roof rack was built by a company in California. Based off how it was installed I'd say it was a dealer option most likely. I actually just pulled the thing off. If anyone wants it they can have it. That or I'm just gonna scrap it.
I'm going to pull the running boards too, if anyone wants them. That or scrap yard for me. Thanks for the compliments everyone. I'll try to get interior pics up monday. I'm actually planning on doing a lot with this thing. I've got a 6.2 diesel I'm working on right now and a fresh 4l80e I want to swap in place of the current drivetrain. My other truck is a chevy 94 k2500 with a big block and 4.10 gears, so that's the work truck. I want to make this burb a daily driver. With a NA 6.2 I figure I can average 17-18 mpg which would be great. My truck gets 7-8.. so you know. |

Re: New here and my new Suburban
Love the diesel swap plans. It's hard to believe the 6.2 is desirable now when so many thought it a turd back when. I guess when you see them last so long and still knock out great mpg it's hard not to start respecting them.

Re: New here and my new Suburban
Yeah I'm pretty excited about doing the 6.2 swap. It still is a turd, that hasn't changed. It's just that they are so simple, lightweight and cheap to build as opposed to a cummins or whatever major diesel. Good fuel mileage, and as long as you keep engine temps low, it'll last a long time.

Does a company make headers for an NA diesel or are you talking a custom fabbed deal? |

Re: New here and my new Suburban
You might also include in that list a timing gear drive.
