Re: 68 chevy is it for real ???
It's easy to spot $65k on that truck. Every single thing is custom. Take a thousand dollars and spend it 65 times looking at that truck. It would take no time at all.

Re: 68 chevy is it for real ???
At least $3 up to $5 in the wheels and tires. It don't take much imagination to have a lot in one without realizing it.

Re: 68 chevy is it for real ???
Coddington built a sectioned 57 Chevy that was Roadstered. When I saw it they had put over $240,000 in it.It went back for more work.....
$65,000 is a drop in the bucket compared.

Re: 68 chevy is it for real ???
I did everything on my truck myself. I have almost no bling, but some nice parts. I was frugal, and tried to keep from busting the bank. I still spent north of $20K.
Without even trying I could spend $65K on a truck! With a little effort, I could spend $100K |

Re: 68 chevy is it for real ???
i think it would be a lot better, if you did all the work your self....that is where the fun is....building something for you......that may be a $65,000.00 truck....and he may have that much money in it.....but what is it really worth....how many people here would spend that kind of money on a truck and be able to sell it for what you put into it.....just wondering.....

Re: 68 chevy is it for real ???
Who says the seller is asking $65,000? They just stated they had that much in it. The Buy it Now is $39,900. I think the question here is,"Could you build this truck for $40k?"

Re: 68 chevy is it for real ???
Easily you could spend that and then some. I'm at low 30's in receipts with almost no money in labor expense.

Re: 68 chevy is it for real ???
That is a really nice truck, but I can't see that kind of money for a truck with no AC (or even heat!) and not bagged. Unfortunately for the seller, I have seen trucks with all of this for his asking price...

Re: 68 chevy is it for real ???
It really isn't that hard to spend that much on a custom built vehicle. I worked on a 100k Coddington 32 roadster back in the late 1980's and was involved in a Monte SS that added up to 100k when it was all done.

Re: 68 chevy is it for real ???
The money in a vehicle is a matter of who has it to spend. If u want something and have the pocket's of money to buy it then there is no end to it. U can spend as much as u want. That's not a bad price for what I see in the pictures for the person who has that kind of money to spend.
I see people spend $15,000 on golf carts all the time that I personally could build for half that. It all depends on if you are willing to pay for what u want.

To answer your question: I would be one who would spend that kind of money building a truck and could have spent way more than I have so far, the only difference is I have no thought of selling mine. My truck is worth, to me, whatever I spend on it. |

Most here just build their own. Mine looks like this: ZZ572 620 engine GM Performance Serpentine Belt Kit Johnny Winter Built Turbo 400 Trans w/1000HP Sprags Gear Vendors Overdrive ECE 4/6 drop kit ECE "Copperhead" Tank Inland Empire custom driveshaft Eaton Posi DTS 4:10 Rear Gears Billet Specailties 17X8 front & 17X10 rear wheels Custom dash by Dolphin Instruments Flaming River Stainless Column Secret Audio Custom Autoair AC Total cost plus the F'n 67 stepside truck: $29,000. If you built it yourself it's yours and this truck is MINE. Nobody turned a wrench on it but me. I bought a few parts, I bought a few raw materials like the paint and the leather for the interior but this truck is MINE. I built it and there's a few more out there that subscribers to this board built that make mine look a bit amateurish by comparison but we can all say we built our trucks. Oh, yeah, it turned a 10.21 in the quarter at Southwestern International Dragway...with the AC ON! If all you can do is throw stones at a truck posted here then the problem isn't with the truck, it's with you. |

I have zero problems with people that dont have the skills to build their own rides and have them built by the pros. Helps keep the auto hobby economy going. I just dont like it if someone tries to take credit for someone else work. Nice truck, you build that yourself? Naw, I dont have those skills, built by a guy named Fritz =) As far as having 65 G's in a ride and you cant figure out how that happened, you really aren't very deep in to the car hobby. I could never come up with that kind of dough to spend on a ride, but I see it done all the time on TV, magazines, and on the internet.
