audio options
So with the holidays coming up I know that Santa claws will leave my truck a little cash. Since I have most of the stuff done to it than needs to be fixed I thought I would use that money to get a radio to play music.
Right now I have the stock setup for 72 mono speaker and an am radio. My antenna is busted so I am replacing that with a generic parts store one (I think it will fit) My speaker is worn out so do I go with a dual cone one or some aftermarket ones. Lastly I want fm I don't really care about cds, or xm radio. I was looking at getting an one from classic audio ect and thats about $200 or I found I could get an fm converter so I could save my Am radio. So the question is do I do a stock set up with a new dual cone speaker, am radio + fm converter OR get an aftermarket 2 knob radio. I

Re: audio options
I looked on the site but I did not get a sure answer. Will the generic antenna from a parts store work on our truck? My antenna broke off in the base and I want to replace the whole antenna with a new one.

Re: audio options
Any antena will work (I used a stubby rubber one on my '69) and the plug for an antena is standard so they all work.
Find a nice 2 shaft old school Pioneer off Craigs List, a pawn shop (I love stereo gear in pawn shops) or ebay for $40 or less and rock out.

Re: audio options
For the time being I am going to get an fm converter and use the extra money for heater controls.

Re: audio options
funny you say that I was looking on line today for speakers and my step dad comes up to me and hads me a box with 2 new infinity speakers in it. I heard there is a way to hook them up together and run them to the old am radio but I am worried it would wreak the radio. How did you hook yours up

Re: audio options
brothers makes a set of replacement 4" speakers for the dash, or you can do your own. I'm not a fan of the 4x10 speakers.
I'm doing the same thing as you though, my other speakers can wait: I need heat!

Re: audio options
That's pretty cool although that remote is pretty ugly. I've been considering cutting the dash to just put in a single DIN. I'm tired of having to leave the glove box open to use the remote for the head unit, or unbuckling to change cd's.
My only other thought is to run one with a usb/aux plug and just leave my ipod/phone in the ash tray. And looking at those brother's speakers again I'd definitely advise just getting a pair of speakers elsewhere. My 2 infinity's sound awesome and they were only $40 for the pair.
