First of many wiring question.

Based on lt1swap (po was incorrect about some things when i bought this motor) i have a 2001 5.3 with dbw out of what i was told a tahoe. The plug that goes into the left side of the throttle body (two pin and i believe it to be idle controller) doesnt seem to be the same two pin conectors. Can anybody chime in to help?

That doesn't look like the right plug. It should look like this. Mine has one black wire and one yellow with black stripe. The one your showing looks like a temp sensor plug or something, it's a little hard to tell in the pic.

So i found the same one on my harness which fits, is it safe to assume every plug only fits in one socket or are there some that are the same? Also would you know where this one goes (it is right next to the plug that you helped me figure out)?

"Most" plugs will only fit in one place, there are however exceptions. That plug looks like the EGR valve plug, you don't need it unless you're doing an emission legal swap.

So based on lt1swap i thought i followed the pin out correctly but i have a plug that went away after i pulled out the wires. Goes to the side of trans (4l60e) did i screw up? Also, can somebody explain to me what/what for that is it plugs in to?

One of those plugs is for the PRNDL on the dash, the other is for the neutral safety switch, back up lights and the signal that goes to the PCM that lets it know if the vehicle is in gear or not. You probably aren't using the neutral safety and back up light parts of it so you should only have a couple of wires left in it.

for the two pin harness, I took a look on the ones I have on my engine and the ones I took out, I don't see any one with black and white wires. My engine came from an 03 tahoe. I believe that's the year that they originally came out with drive by wire. Anyways, mine doesn't have EGR, but the ones that was somewhat near the throttle body was the Purge solenoid that is on top of the intake. Another one that is somewhat close to the throttle body is a plug that connects to the knock sensors harness, also on top of the intake manifold. Here's a pic.


For the transmission park/neutral switch, some of those wires connect to the ecm, starter, back-up lights, ect. here is a link where it shows the pinouts. Hope this helps. http://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic-...or-wiring.html

Great, how that its been completely removed for the harness and pin out of computer would you know what wire goes where? Sorry for all the questions.

Are you saying you removed both plugs and want to put the wires for some of back in? Which ones specifically? Just the ones that let the PCM know what gear its in, or the neutral safety and back up lights too?

I still have the plug with about a foot of wire on it (i assume i can splice back in and go from there). Im not worried about anything i dont need to make it run (back up lights...etc..) Im just not sure what wire i need to run and where to??

Also (another question, pic below), I have two plugs and a relay that are at the end of my harness (next to the MAF plug) Do you know what the plugs are? Do i need the relay if im going to build my own like the one on lt1swap?

Is this what you are needing?

On the PRNDL or ( neutral swsitch plug) keep the wires for Range Switch Signal A,B,C and P. Pins 32, 34, 72 on BLUE and pin 62 on GREEN connector. These all 4 go to the range switch on side of trans. Those 4 plus a GROUND wire (black/white) are all thats needed at the range switch plug.

I took out the other wires because im not using the dash indicators (approx 4-5) cant remember now.

Okay, the bigger plug looks like an o2 sensor plug and the smaller one looks like either the vss plug or camshaft positioning sensor that goes on the top rear of the block

I have a PSI harness and it doesn't use any wires on that side of the trans.

I dont have a green connector just blue and red do you think its the same? Also im unclear on the P (a,b,c, and P) parts of that. on the link to that plug it says a,b,c,d,e, and f.

The other o2 sensors had 4-5 wires in it, these two plugs only have a red and black wire each (i assume power (red) and and ground (black)) and both red wires on those plugs to to a relay right next to them. I i dont think its an o2 sensor but i definitely could be wrong.

I think you got me on the right track...thanks..One more question about that plug..besides those 4 wires and ground do i need the pink hooked up as well?

Ok...i just confused myself again..Based on lt1swap pin out set those 4 wires are still in my connected in my computer and run to a plug (pnp..c1) that is still attached to the harness. The other plug (pnp..c2) is the one that came out of the harness after my pin out was done..Im lost, do i need both those plugs in tacked and plug them in on the drivers side of trans?

You just need the 4 wire plug, the other one (that you pictured) you don't need. If the C1 plug is still attached to your harness you are fine.

Are these actually attached to your harness? I've never seen a relay like that in an engine harness. I have however used those same relays for different things, fuel pump, fans ect.

Awsome, thank you...as far as the others i havent started to pull them from the harness to see exactly where they attach..I didnt want to do that just in case i needed them for something

Ok, so with the help of everyone i think my harness is done.....BUT...one more question(for now)....I have one cut wire that im not sure if needed or where it goes...It is a pnk/wht wire that come off the blue side of pcm (pin #38). Based on lt1swap it is a damping lift/drive signal. I have looked through the schematics till my eyes hurt and i cant figure it out..would anyone have the answer?
