Chevy 350 4 bolt main Max HP

So I have recently found out thankfully that my motor isn't a Chevy 350 its a Chevy 305 thats a 2 bolt main, which thankfully I found all this out before I started dropping serious cash trying to get mad torque and hp out of it.

What my question is, is what is the Max HP you can get out of a Chevy 350 4 bolt main, safely and still if I wanted to have it as a daily driver I could. Note this its not an LS1 motor its a Crate Chevy 350. Any advice or help will be perfect just trying to make a game plan for my motor that I'm going to have to buy.

For daily driving and carbed? 300-350 is high end IMO. Any higher and performance motors eat gas.

Okay, well I doubt it'll ever be driven daily mainly car shows and such. Let me ask it this way could I hit 600hp carbed?

It's tough to have a streetable N/A 406 with 600hp, even a 383 is going to take cash and will require a lot of maintenance. Even then, it won't be a long lived engine.
Stroke a 454 to 496, pocket ported heads with big valves and a healthy hydraulic roller will get you there and not need anything but regular oil changes.
Now add forced induction and you're talking about a completely different animal.

I hear you there. Well reason I'm asking is like it says I found out my motor is actually a 2 bolt main 305 which wont hold crap. So I started looking into pricing on a new motor, well a Chevy 350 turn key is about $4,700, I can get an LS1 for $5,100, with that being said I'll probably try for the LS1 being that its an aliuminum black and that motor is made for racing and it can handle anything I can throw at it.

If you're going LS and plan to hammer hell out if it, forget the aluminum blocks, start with a 6.0L iron block and add a pair of L92 yeads and stroke it to low 400 cubes. It'll take all you can throw at it including big boost and spray. They're the block of choice for folks that don't want to spend what it takes to get an LSX block.

Yeah I'm going to run the hell out of it, it's mainly a play toy that's going to be more shown that anything but still be used to take out and cruise and things like that I'm not planning to just have it balls to the walls all the time

Re: Chevy 350 4 bolt main Max HP

The iron 4 bolt main will handle 600 hp on a factory block. A two bolt main iron factory block that's got a splayed 4bolt and half hard block will handle 700hp these are in naturally aspirated form.

Superchevy has made a 1000hp turbo small block but I don't know the details since it was forever ago

There are two ways to make big hp livable as a street engine. One is with cubic inches and the other is with boost. And by livable I mean you not wanting to stab yourself after a five mile highway stretch
