71 4x4 Radiator Upgrade!
Big Block needs more cooling! The hood will just close with this radiator and will make a front sheetmetal shroud to cover the top front,,anyone else do this?

Re: 71 4x4 Radiator Upgrade!
that's one way...
another would be aluminum replacement... or an electric fan setup to move more air...

Re: 71 4x4 Radiator Upgrade!
Figure out why your truck needs “more cooling” its nov and in cali your not seein anything over 90degrees now, so there has to be another problem..
Also it’d be easier and better to swap out for a nice aluminum in the stock dimensions. |

Standard questions.... does (did?) the truck have a shroud and a good clutch fan?

Re: 71 4x4 Radiator Upgrade!
Well it realy did not overheat per say, only time it got hot was when I was stuck and abusing it to get unstuck and no air was flowing over the radiator,,it did not have a shroud at the time, but the radiator is old and leaking and I am stripping the 85 suburban and swaping all the parts onto my 71,,so the radiator is free,,Ya its Big,,but it will work and cost me nothing and the shroud will fit as well,,I am not Building a show truck,,this truck is going to be a Work horse and have Car trailor Pulling duty to Pull my Race car and other cars I restore,,so for me Funtion is more important than Form,,I will do all the body work and paint it eventualy,,But right now I need to get some use out of it!

Looks like a good sturdy truck... I like the stance. And I see you collect Corvairs!

Bigger isn't going to hurt any thing. I think mosesburb did that too.

Re: 71 4x4 Radiator Upgrade!
My dad put that exact size of radiator in his '69 with a 454 because of over heating problems also. It was a huge improvement to say the least, and cost effective since the radiaitor was free

Re: 71 4x4 Radiator Upgrade!
I think it has a 4" rancho lift and the tires are 35x15,,I am swaping the axels out next with 3/4 ton 8 luggers with these wheels,,they are 18's and the same height as the 15's on there now.

Re: 71 4x4 Radiator Upgrade!
Nice, I like the way the truck sits, perfect height/tire size.
