Wipers squeak like crazy
Is this just par for the course, or can I fix it? I've used some good spray lubricant on the arms where they mount, as well as the other joints and springs on the arms, but it still squeaks a bunch. It isn't the actual blades either. Sounds like metal squeaking

Re: Wipers squeak like crazy
Just have to find the right spot to hit with some good lube (maybe white grease) , mine do not squeak any.

Re: Wipers squeak like crazy
Put some flowmasters on your truck. Seriously, though, I think the answer is if you have lubricated everything, and it still squeaks, replacing it would be your next option. They just get worn out after 40 years.

Re: Wipers squeak like crazy
So you already sprayed the moving bits under the cowl (through the slots in the cowl)? That usually does it for me.

Re: Wipers squeak like crazy
Turn your wipers on and spray through the cowl.
I've done this a couple of times and that is usually where the noise is. white lithium grease lasts a long time.

Re: Wipers squeak like crazy
I assume the cowl is the area just below the wipers that has the slats in it where leaves tend to collect?

Re: Wipers squeak like crazy
That would be correct. Mine also squeak alot, I havn't done anything to fix it but when I am out during a snow storm or something for a while it gets wet and stops the squeak. so I would think it would be somewhere in the cowl.

Re: Wipers squeak like crazy
Just plan on replacing the actuator arms in the cowl, they only cost about 30 or 40 bucks.
If they are squeaking constantly, they are getting ready to seize up. In my case, I did the ol' squirt some oil on em thing. Then when you need the wipers the most, they will seize up on you and you will be SOL. Actually happened to me, and was a huge PITA to get where I needed to go in the rain. One of those things I now prefer to be proactive about.

Re: Wipers squeak like crazy
Thanks guys. I sprayed down inside the cowl, and I'm happy to report that it fixed the squeaks!

Re: Wipers squeak like crazy
i do not think being old has anything to do with it, in 1971 my 1969 squeaked ,i could spray the cowl where the arms are and it would stop for a while, but would later do it again, i never did take everything apart and grease everything, but being out in the weather it would help. ole dollor squeaks some times now, but the wipers don't need to be on any way. it never rains in Anton Texas.....

Re: Wipers squeak like crazy
A lot of wiper squeaks are dry blades and generally will stop with new blades
