What is this? 72 Jimmy

Is this some kind of tank vent in the back of my Jimmy? The tube is capped off just before the bed rail and seems like several tubes from the gas tank go up inside it.

Re: What is this? 72 Jimmy

Its part of the evap system. The tank has a left and right vent hole. They run over to this, merge, then has 1 tube going to the charcoal canister, then to the motor.

I am not an expert, but IMO you could ditch it, provided you have a vented fuel cap.

I remember reading that guys had issues with splash-back while filling the tank when the vent system was 'disabled'. May want to check into that.

I eliminated all that. My tank is well vented though.
