junkyard score today

went to the junkyard today since im off work and i stumbled across a 67 and a 68. one was hit in front, the other looked to be in good shape, no accidents, minimal rust. some parts were already taken, but i got the glove box door, cluster and bezel, steering wheel and rear view mirror which my 72 doesnt have. installed. i got it all for 75 bucks. heres a before and after. i have done a lot of work this week...floor shift conversion, shortened the steering column by three inches, rewired the engine compartment, removed heater assembly and made a plate to bolt on the firewall, installed all of the items from the junkyard. next...time for the engine

That's cool. I can never find any of these trucks at my local junkyards. They act like I'm crazy when I ask if they have any.

When you shortened the column, was it so you'd have more arm room from the wheel to where you sit on the bench? Was it hard to do?

Re: junkyard score today

Yea I see atleast one almost everytime I go which is about 1 time a month. The truck I got the dash off of was a coil spring rear end also. I moved the steering wheel closer to the dash simply for the fabrication and custom look to it. It does give more room, it also puts the steering wheel very close to my legs though .But im a big guy at 6"3 220 pounds. It was pretty easy to do, took about an hour and a half.
