Question Restoring a wood steering wheel

OK,
I got the 67 SS Chevelle wheel done.

Now I'm wanting to do a 2 prong wood wheel.
Has anybody ever redone one, if so what did you use to fill the cracks with. Wood putty, what any info is welcome cause I don't know anything about doing this. Been searching the net tonight trying to find info.
I have a good friend who has it and said he would like for me to redo it after seeing the 67 Chevelle wheel. I told him I would try and findout what was envolved before I commit to it.
He is building a custom 68 with 55 dash in it.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Restoring a wood steering wheel

andy you can allways use wood glue and good clamps to glue it back together.
find out what kind of wood it is and find a piece with similar color and use some of the sanding dust too mix in with the glue. you can do this with putty to also but putty really wont hold up well on a wheel.
if your gonna use the glue be careful and clean up any excess cause it will show up with any kind of stain or finish. gorrilla glue works pretty good

Thanks,
the wheel itself isn't that bad that I saw. It's about like the 67 SS wheel. It has some small cracks but nothing all the way through.

Come on guy's, somebody has had to redo one of these over the past 30 years for a vehicle they had surely.
