A couple questions...
Hey all,
I currently have a th350, I am wondering if I should keep the th350 and get it built up, or going to a 400 or 700r4. I am swapping in a 383 and it should be around 450HP and I am planning on running a 200 shot. any thoughts on what to do for the transmission? Also, what should I do about the rear end? spool? Posi? lockers? ( I am on a budget so I can't spend a huge amount of money and I am a newbie so all help is appreciated) 1972 c10 th350 Swapping in 383 around 450HP planning on running a 200 shot. gm 12 bolt one legger coil suspension thanks, Lance

Re: A couple questions...
The cheapest way to get strong is a th400. I would remove the thought of a 700r4 from your head now unless you want to spend 3-4grand. A basically race ready th400 can be done for 1/4 of that. Keep in mind your money will be spent on the torque converter. You NEED a good converter with an anti ballooning plate. You need to order from a quality company such as ATI,TCI,COAN etc. Plan to spend at least 600 bucks and more than likely closer to 900-1000 dollars to get a converter that will survive 650hp in a truck.

Re: A couple questions...
As far as the rear diff, if you are track only a spool would be the ticket. If you plan any street time at all, a good posi (eaton would be my choice). My bro has an S-10, that is under the "knife"(9" ford diff going in), pretty sure that it will end up with a spool & we will trailor it to the track....crazyL
