worth it?
I have a 66 lwb fleet side that needs work. I just came across a buddy who had a 62 swb stepside fall in his lap. He took the engine and tranny. He told me I can take the rest of the truck for 100 bucks. Thee cab is trashed doors are repairable as is the bed. The frame has original supspention and brakes and one rear arm under the bed is rusted through. So question is is it worth it to have for parts later? Or mane even finding a swb fleet bed and swapping cabs and engine later?

Re: worth it?
Easily worth it, take what can be saved, then drive the trashed stuff over the scales you can't lose for that kind of money.

Re: worth it?
So since I don’t want to be labeled as Nuts or Insane, I finally got it back to the house. Thanks by the way, if I would have waited one more day it would have been gone. It was a busy work week and I had to make a deal with the wife that I would get rid of a 86 Samurai I have back there (hasn’t left yet…) for the gutted 62 (or so they say the plate with the numbers on cab door frame has been hacked away, you can see it on the second to last picture) I’m going to try and start pulling everything off this after the holidays see what I can save and what will have to be scrap.

Re: worth it?
Ouch! That cab right above the windshield is a nightmare! For $100 you did good though, lots of great parts that can be salvaged.

Re: worth it?
I would have done the same for $100. I would find another cab and replace it. I think you could get one for a good price.

Re: worth it?
there are good finds in this tread. But the 1966 and the 1962 are 2 different trucks the front ends are different. No i'm not saying the hood or the fenders the frame and front end are way different they have torsion bars instead of A arms Most people find the 1963--66 truck frames and use them instead

Re: worth it?
That windshield rot looks kinda rough, but I think you will have a lot of useful parts there.

Re: worth it?
So after floating around on Craigs list for a while I found a guy about a hour and a half north of me selling a couple of hoods and a passenger door... After getting some pictures of the hoods and door (one fiberglass hood and one metal) I told him I could only take the door since I'm low on funds, we agreed and I made plans to drive up after work. Later on he told me he would give me hood when I came to get the door since the door had a couple of small dents plus some rust and he needed to make space in his shop. Only catch was we had to bring it down from a loft storage area with only ladder access... Haha those Hoods arn't all that light... so I got a hood and door for a good price. He was "Just glad to see a young kid into a old classic." So I was all for it! Just need to take the other parts truck apart that i wanted the hood, fender and cowls from and get rid of it.
Hood is a little funny as who ever had it before him never sanded any of the other 7 coats before painting this... Interesting one. First is my old hood, then the one I WAS going to use and try and repair, then finally the one I got yesterday.
