RPO Code - 64 stepside
Been doing my homework and it says it can be found in the glove box but that's a no go - any other places I can look to try to find out what this truck had for options originally. I've read that you can decode your vin but from what I can tell that's just gonna give you details about the year and out of which factory... any insight would be appreciated... looking to be schooled. Thanks in advance.

Re: RPO Code - 64 stepside
I don't think SPID's started until '66.
the build sheet is where the info will be. IF it's there it could be under the seat, behind the seat or behind the gas tank. they're usually missing or in such poor shape you can't read them. A little more info can be had on the trim tag, should be on the firewall above the master cylinder. Aerotruck63 has alot of info on options for our trucks. You'd be suprised at how bare bones these trucks came as a base model, dang near everything was an option. T

Re: RPO Code - 64 stepside
66 was the first year to have a sticker in the glove box with the RPO codes stating how the truck was ordered. Previous to 66 there was a folded sheet of paper tucked into the springs on the back rest of the seat. Most BUILD SHEETS disintegrated over the life of the truck, but a few remained intact.
Options/Accessories could have been installed at the factory but also by the dealer as well. If installed by the dealer the codes would not appear on the build sheet, they would have been on the original sales invoice or other invoices that would have been produced after the sale had been made. |
