c10 spring 6102 and cc603?
Hi guys
Im looking at replacing my 71 c10 coils. lwb, 350/350. i dont mind a firm, sporty ride, but dont want a harsh bone chattering ride. Im thinking about putting in the 6102 big block springs in front, but wondered if i should use the Cargo control variable rate (CC603) out back? I want to keep the raked look, slightly higher in the back. Would the 6102 springs stick up too high and kill the rake? Also, Im planning on the bilstein stocks. Would those be ok with the 6102 BBC springs? Would i be better off with the 6542 springs? (stock V8) thanks guys |

Re: c10 spring 6102 and cc603?
I'm sorry I'm not much help.
I have no idea about stock height springs. I would rather use lowering springs to achieve a "sporty" ride. (lower the center of gravity) The addition of sway bars and good shocks will help you the most. But,... my opinion,... stock springs are going to make it look like a 4x4.

Hey Keith
I can tell by your pic that you like them low I like the stock height stuff and dont mind the 4x4 stance I am going to do the bigger sway bar and im thinking that the higher spring rate of the BBC spring will firm up the ride a bit too. I do appreciate you chiming in! |

Re: c10 spring 6102 and cc603?
Bump up. was getting ready to finally do my suspension after my 5.3 swap
Can anyone else compare the 6082 vs 6102/6104 up front? Or do you guys have either of these springs? Impressions? I dont mind a sporty ride, but i like my teeth |

Re: c10 spring 6102 and cc603?
If you read through the "make it handle" thread here in the suspension forum, you will find that rob macgreger (nolimit) breaks down moog spring rates for the front suspension of these 67-72 trucks and recommends the 6102 springs. I dont think you will rattle your teeth out and if you find the truck to be slightly nose high for your taste just trim half of a coil off the spring and see how it looks then.
Sorry I cant help on the rear, but I think w/o going to an air bag to have the ability to adjust the height or firmness of the ride, they will be your best option.

Re: c10 spring 6102 and cc603?
After reading some more, i see quite a few guys like a softer spring/stiffer shock for a decent ride. Im not carving canyons with this truck. Its gonna be a daily driver, so a nice ride is nice to have.
It would be nice to know what the stock guys are doing for springs/shocks. ill keep reading. Any more suggestions, keep them coming thanks |

Re: c10 spring 6102 and cc603?
the 6102 is firmer, and with an LS, will sit up another 3/4" or so.You can trim a 1/2 coil to solve this, but it will be firmer. If you want a smoother ride, stay with the 6542 springs, some Monroe Sensitrack shocks, and invest in some swaybars, front and rea. This will keep it smooth and comfortable, yet still handle better and be more pleasurable to drive. more smiles = more miles

Re: c10 spring 6102 and cc603?
Do you guys know where I can find the 6542 springs? Cant seem to get them. I can get the 6082... I know those are even lighter than the 6542s...
thanks! |
