water trap questions

Hey guys, putting a water trap in my air suspension system. Can it be any air water trap or should it be specific to air suspension? And should I mount it in the line from the compressor to the tank or the line from the tank to the valves? Thanks,
-Derek

Re: water trap questions

Since condensation occurs as a byproduct of compressing and decompressing air, I put mine after the tank before the valves. This will keep a majority of the moisture out of the rest of your system. Putting one before the tank, won't trap the moisture in the air when decompressing the tank. It's there trust me. I work on pressurization systems for aircraft. I used a trap from a vender on the forum. Always wanna give them the business first when you can.

Re: water trap questions

I have a water trap between the compressor and my tank, a petcock on the bottom of the tank, and a water trap between the tank and the valves. This is how it was suggested to me by the guys at Accuair when I used their setup a few years ago.

Re: water trap questions

Thanks for the replies, I have a water trap and a drain cock at the bottom of the tank, I'll see how that workd for a while and maybe install a second trap between the compressor and tank... see ten was there more water in either trap or were they fairly equal?

Re: water trap questions

The trap between the compressor and tank always had the most in it. But there is always moisture from the other two points as well. Of course, they're "downstream" from the first so...

We manufacture water traps for air ride set ups. They are available in a few different colors and sizes...
