Dash Cam

Does anyone here use a dash camera? Any recommendations on which brand or model is the best value.

Some are silly cheap. Seems like an inexpensive way to capture/post digital video & audio of the truck. Currently I have nothing that will record digital that can be uploaded.

Re: Dash Cam

I've used my smartphone. You can use a mount and drill a hole for the camera if it's blocked, or buy a universal that doesn't block the camera.

GoPro's are really good, also lets you mount exterior for some really cool shots.

Here's a video from one of the guys in Los Boulevardo's CC, shot with the GoPro using a suction mount.

Re: Dash Cam

Yea, Gopro is the easiest to use that isn't a ton of money... I have that now, but back in the day I use to rock a Sony hand held camcorder my dog chewed on, with a converter for the house hold wall plug charger... Was great back in early 2000 and was low budget!!!

Re: Dash Cam

Incedibly , the GoPro suction mount is extremely tough. We mounted it to our Outlaw Fuel Altered for a 4.01sec/182mph 1/8 mile pass and it was very clear video.

Re: Dash Cam

Thanks to everyone for the input. That is indeed a very cool video. The clarity is incredible along with the quality of the cars. I love all the different camera angles that are possible. I keep telling the wife the truck is done and I won't be spending any more money on it. Maybe after just this one more purchase?!

Re: Dash Cam

I ordered some cheap dash cameras for Christmas gifts this year. They'll be delivered soon. I'm not sure of the quality, but It doesn't take much video to prove your case.

Waiting patiently. I'd like to get one myself and another for my kids car. I saw some cheap ones as Walmart for about $30.

Re: Dash Cam

I use a shadowtec 550WS. If you are thinking about getting one, get one. Even if it is a cheapie, as said; it will show enough to proove certain things. (who was moving, who was not, color of the light).
I finally got mine, after sitting on the fence for too long, when some guy decided to back into me at a red light. If it was not for one witness of many, who stuck around I'd be up the creek with the insurance company as automatic fault was on me. Dashcam would have saved a lot of time in settling who did or did not do what.

Alex.

I had one for a while, bought at staples.
it came with an internal battery, and the lighter plug in.
Had it a couple of weeks used it and itwouldn't work after it sat in the cold two days(-20).
They took it back, haven't got another yet but did catch a couple of idiots on it
