Arrow T56 Transmission Crossmember?

Hello!

I have a SWB 72 Stepside. Preparing to install LQ4 and T56. I want to ensure I have everything needed for a successful swap.

I was reviewing Shifty's thread on LS1tech.com, and he ran into a snag with his x-member, and recommends oe from Classic. I checked on their website, and only see one for an manual to auto upgrade. Does that one work? Or do I need to fab something up, or are there other options?

Thanks!

Re: T56 Transmission Crossmember?

I also have the same question, one of the last things I cannot find anything on. Just wondering if you figured anything out on this?

Re: T56 Transmission Crossmember?

I just modified my stock 400 turbo cross member. Worked for me...

Re: T56 Transmission Crossmember?

I used mine that was trimmed for nv4500 on my t56, no mods were needed. I used the two bolt mount, and moved it back

Re: T56 Transmission Crossmember?

I also modified the skip shift with the shift guide and made my own conversion .. Threw them in my mill and welded ..... you want to retain the reverse lockout so you don't find reverse at 70 mph the long stick makes it so I don't hook up the solinoid

Re: T56 Transmission Crossmember?

Set the angles right...I like to see 3-4 degrees down (to the rear) on the eng/trans, figuring the frame level? This is with the weight on the chassis. Up on stands is ok, but with the weight(all the parts on the truck)? Build the crossmember, to give what you want Longhorn

Re: T56 Transmission Crossmember?

Any further on the CPP tubular crossmember with the T56? Did it require lots of shimming to get your driveline angle correct?

I used the CPP crossmember and it was a direct bolt in with no mods.

Re: T56 Transmission Crossmember?

So trkfrk, you are using the older square tube design from cpp and not the tubular, correct? What mounts and perches are you using, and did you get lucky enough to use your factory holes in the frame rails for the crossmember? Looks great!

It must be the older one, I purchased it probably 4 years ago. Same with my motor mounts, they are from CPP also and we're the first design (tubular mounts). I moved my engine back from the factory holes approximately 1". I can't remember for sure, but I believe I did use the predrilled holes in the frame for the trans Xmember. My drivelines is being built now and hoping to test drive the truck this weekend.

Re: T56 Transmission Crossmember?

Very nice. Wish I was as far along as you. Did you get the 1" setback with adjustable sliding mounts?
