55-59 Factory Brush Guard Question

I found a brush guard for my '56 yesterday, but it's missing the stabilizer/reinforcement bars and plates that bolt to the frame.

Does anyone have these parts that they'd be willing to share some better pics and measurements from?

Here's the guard and the only good pic that I have of the bars/plates:

Re: 55-59 Factory Brush Guard Question

Considering in 50 years of being around these trucks I did not know factory ones existed and do mot remember ever seeing one I would guess the chances of someone having the pieces (ones in the bottom photo???) laying around are slim. But they would be easy to fabricate from angle and rod stock. Would not match the stamped piece but it will be hidden. I would try to figure out a similar mount that did not require drilling a hole in the lower grille in case you decide to remove it.

Re: 55-59 Factory Brush Guard Question

These were popular on the trucks I see here in Texas and Oklahoma. Try searching the craigslist in those 2 states. Most often they get junked so If you spot a truck with it on the owner may sell the pieces.

Re: 55-59 Factory Brush Guard Question

Yeah, I figured on making the bars and possibly using tri5 engine mounts for the brackets.

Funny thing is that I almost passed the truck up that the guard was on- it was surrounded by tall, thick brush and thorn-bushes!

I'll contact the gentleman who owns the parts in the pic I shared as well.

Thanks for the input!

Bill
