When you know its time to call it a day...
Yesterday I was working on getting Project Heaven prepped again to be moved as we are selling our house and moving. Got the rear axle reinstalled and went to bolt the driveshaft back in and installed a new U-joint, had to order a new U-Joint strap kit cause I couldnt find them... Then as I am tightening the bolts into the yoke for the strap kit I hear a pop and the head of the bolt breaks off in my hand...
Yep, thats when you know it is time to call it a day and tackle it tomorrow... LOL, so today it is time to drill and either E-Z out the bolt or drill and tap the hole again... |

Re: When you know its time to call it a day...
Reminds me of the day I was installing a new window in my house, the wife was helping me all day and she asked if we could stop for the day ? It was after 5 pm and I just wanted to get it installed before we called it a day ! Long story short, we did not stop, hammer slipped out of my hand, hit her square in the head had to rush her to hospital ! Thank God she was alright, but she had two black eyes for months and I got interviewed by the cops for domestic abuse! Moral of story, when wife say's take a break, listen to her or the little voice in your head that talks to you once in a while? It will save you big in the long haul. Just my 2 cents worth...

Re: When you know its time to call it a day...
Ok, so after a rough couple of days I finally got some work done.
Rear axle installed, but still have to replace the yoke (Drill and Tap/EZ-out didnt work)(ordered new from Randy's Ring & Pinion). Under Bed Aluminum fuel cell (made by fuelcellguy) installed, fuel lines ran and fuel to the carburetor (truck needs new plugs to run on its own, gonna do that today). Also need some help on proper wiring of the sending unit in the tank. Tightened radiator hose clamp to stop water drip. Need to make a trip to the local salvage yard for some parts for my bed and then get the bed installed. Hopefully by Sunday she will pull herself out of the workshop with all the body back on. All in all I feel like I got some good work accomplished, but it was a bit painful! LMAO |

Re: When you know its time to call it a day...
Just go slow and relax, about a month ago I was working on my 71 gmc 3/4 ton when I smashed my hand. I got pissed and went inside. Guy from work stopped by to see what all i had gotten done. Showed him my hand as I was still pissed. He offered to buy it and stupid me let it go. Been regretting it ever since, well until saturday i bought a 67swb lol
