End of the line for good deals on parts

I have been a premium member here for four or five years, bought sold and helped other members with questions.

My dad recently got in over his head with a pay as you go body shop and they took him for close to $10k to get his 72 SWB painted. He lost interest after that and I took to finish. I have been listing a lot of parts trying to offset the cost of finishing the truck. I have sold a little, not a lot, IMO.

Yesterday I get a message from a staff member saying that due to the volume of "sales", (not listings), I was being "upgraded" to high octane status on a pro rated basis. Coincidentally, this means my membership goes from $25 per year to $130.

I responded and explained my situation and got a response that said that they sympathized but I was going to be upgraded none the less.*

I don't have the funds to upgrade so it will just be a matter of time. I am just curious to see whether they leave this up so all can see that it really is all about the all mighty dollar.*I am on eBay as "steveshow", but always listed here first to give members first shot and in an effort to save us both some money. Oh well!*I invite your responses and opinions on the whole situation.

Re: End of the line for good deals on parts

This is the definition of a High Octane member.
Does this describe you?
Just trying to claify for all the other High Octane members that voluntarily pay the fee.

For our members that like to buy and sell frequently, we have added a new membership level that will fit your needs. This will allow you to take advantage of the growing demand for selling used parts on here as well as Craigslist, eBay or other off site sources.

This is designed specifically for individuals that want to offer primarily used parts, manufacturer small parts, or offer services at an affordable price. It is not to be used for location or internet based businesses that offer parts or services as a primary source of income. The Forum Staff will be available to help determine if you meet the guidelines

Your High Octane Membership includes the following-
High Octane Member: $130 per year, $75/ 6 mo, $15/ mo
As a High Octane member you enjoy all the benefits of a Premium Member.
This level of support allows members to sell more than leftover parts.
You can sell unlimited used parts or some new parts.
You may advertise your off site listing on eBay, Craigslist, etc
This is not for traditional business vendors.

this is a very sticky point to define, basically arbitrary according to the whims of forum staff. if you want to make a distinction between $25/yr members and $130/yr members this should be more concrete.

Personally I'll buy on this site but would never sell.

Re: End of the line for good deals on parts

Not trying to throw fuel on the fire,, but,, I was upgraded to a high octane membership. I PERSONALLY feel it is a good value for the money spent. Unlike ebay, they don't want a cut of the sales and everyone on here is pretty well like minded. If my high octane membership helps keep us up and going, I have no problem with it. I understand your circumstance has issues mine does not, and am understanding that we all have things going on in our lives, everyones challenges are different. just hate to see you leave because the rules make it fair for everyone who sells on this site. I will hush now. Thanks, Fred

Posting this in multiple places is simply trolling... closed.

Normally at this point an infraction would be issued for multiple posting, and trolling. I am not going that route and instead letting this serve as a final warning. Undermining the integrity of the site and or its staff with NOT be tolerated.
