Aftermarket 71-72 Grill shell manufacture

Are all aftermarket 71-72 grill shells made from the same company? If they aren't, which one is the best out there? I have seen some that have a large gap where they meet the fenders.

Thanks,
Ray

That isn't usually a grill problem. That problem arises from poorly stamped fenders. Gorden brand is the worce. WES

Re: Aftermarket 71-72 Grill shell manufacture

ttt - i gotta get one of these too eventually, interested in who is satisfied with which mfgrs (other than oem). Would love to find a sweet oem one also, but backup plan is aftermarket, so interested in your experiences like 72super is. LMC? Classic Parts? Bro's? Or, are all made by Counterpart and the companies are just distributors for the same piece. That's fine, curious about quality - and whether or not they are anodized like factory surrounds. thx.

Dynacorn makes one. So I think there are at least 2, with the other being Counterpart. A friend of mine has used 3 aftermarket shells, on his personal truck restorations. He was happy, said he would use them again. I will try to find out where he got them from, and who made them.

I didn't realize that. I am using my original fenders. My truck has one on it now that fits really good, but it got damaged, so I am looking for a good replacment.

Thanks,
Ray

Re: Aftermarket 71-72 Grill shell manufacture

I just wish they would make them a little nicer. I bought a few of these so far and they always seem to have tool marks (gouges) usually on the sides that go around the fender.

For the price of them, they should not have this. Maybe they all don't and I'm just the lucky one to buy 3 that do have this, I can't say.

Re: Aftermarket 71-72 Grill shell manufacture

TTT interested in this also. I bought a lightly used chrome one off the board that fits like dog crap. My original GM one fits almost perfectly, but its in terrible shape. So i need to find a good repop i guess.
