250 6 cylinder headers
Im curious if anyone here has ever put headers on a 250 6 cyl.
It's just a though, but I might do that on my 70 GMC. I was shopping @ XXXXXtruckers online, and found a Hedman Header claiming to fit this 250. If you have, what did you do about the stock intake manifold??? I'd greatly appreciate any comments or advise. Billy G

exhaust
YEARS ago we used to split the exhaust manifold (amongst other things) to get them to breathe a little better. They also sounded great because the power pulses were separated from each other.

I have a set of custom headers on mine, thats the only way i could get them to line up with my clutch and stuff. Its still very tight, but everything was planned good and it works like a charm, i have heard good luck with the clifford headers also and they would be cheaper than haveing them made. I love mine and makes a real distinct sound. :>

Clifford Headers and intakes come up on E-bay from time to time.
www.cliffordperformance.com Offenhauser used to make custom intakes for the Chev I6 and I think there are a couple of Header companies too like Hedman and Hooker. Hope this helps! Greg

i know at my advance auto parts they sell a dynomax header for my 250. for almost 200$

i priced out a set for my inline and it was gonna cost me $695 canadian. It's cheaper to buy them from the USA But i decided to scrap the inline and went with a 350 instead

I'll be putting the Stovebolt headers on my 250 within the next month or so. So far, the only problem I see up front is the poor casting. I'm mating this up with a Clifford intake and I can see that there will be some grinding involved to make them bolt up together. I don't know yet if I'll be able to afford dual exhaust all the way back for now, but will go with 2" when I can.
I guess the reason I went with cast iron headers is because of the reputation of the tube headers wearing out after a couple years. I've also heard of exhaust leak problems with the tube headers. I figure I can always put the I6 performance stuff on the Camaro if I ever get a V8 for the truck.

I want to do the I-6 headers and an intake.Ihave been looking at the 4bbl intake that uses a 390 cfm carb.I have also seen 2 singles intakes at swap meets.Since I haven't ever put one on a 6 let me know how things fit.

This is may be completely unhelpful but I believe Sanderson makes or made cast iron headers for the I6. I can't remember where I saw that and it's possible that it's my "meds" talking but it might be worth googling....
