Ahhh....Got me a tag....

Well, finally got my 1972 NC farm truck tag on the truck. And it is light blue and matches. The tag looks better than the picture, somehow the flash is making it look washed out.

Re: Ahhh....Got me a tag....

were you able to actually legally register it also (i.e. drive it, not just slap it on at shows)? not familiar w/NC dmv laws, etc.

Regardless, looks cool and does look great on your truck!

I bought the same for my 71 for Indiana Farm tag - in case I ever move back to my home state... Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance Don't know if I'll even move back or if I can register it when I get there, but it was a like new - never registered 71 Farm Truck tag.

Re: Ahhh....Got me a tag....

Nebraska is the same way, but they inspect them and put a reflective "Historical" sticker on it. It is a one time license fee for the life of your ownership, $70 or $80 I think.

Re: Ahhh....Got me a tag....

NC looks even easier than SC:

http://www.scplates.com/Home/yom

http://www.ncleg.net/EnactedLegislat.../GS_20-63.html

From the above, paragraph "d":

Quote:
Any motor vehicle of the age of 35 years or more from the date of manufacture may bear the license plates of the year of manufacture instead of the current registration plates, if the current registration plates are maintained within the vehicle and produced upon the request of any person.
Looks like you can just slap it on and run it as long as a legal plate is in the cab with you.

SC is a bit more of a pain. I run YOM plates on my C10 and Mustang. SC is more strict. You have to call it in to be sure that plate can be used (we only need 1 plate displayed and back then it was 2, so someone else could be running your plate if you bought a single plate off ebay, etc) and I'm glad I called mine in before I bought plates because there was a couple times the numbers weren't usable, like when I called in a plate that started out DV (disabled Veteran)... couldn't be used. You also have to pay a $30 fee and send pics of the plate to the office in Columbia for approval.

Re: Ahhh....Got me a tag....

You see year of manufacture tags all over here. I keep my registered tag in the glove box. Also, pre '70 vehicles are exempt from state inspection here.
