spotted a few today...

Took a drive in central iowa today to go pick up a box I'm turning into deck furniture for the deck I got done building his summer.

And spotted an old k20 stepside longbed. For sale. Did a U-turn and checked it out. It was a little rough, and they are asking $1100 for it. Rockers are GONE, inline 6 with a four speed.

Shortly after that, we spotted an old gmc that more then likely has an unhappy owner, setting along the side of the highway. No one was around so we didn't stop and I wasn't quick enough to get a pic on the way. But snagged on on the way back, it didn't look to bad.

Re: spotted a few today...

i spotted one a few weeks ago behind a building ive been driving by for years. just the very corner of it is all i could see, but enough to make out that its the 67-72 front end. the weeds around the place happen to be knocked down just enough by the snow to give me a split second view as i passed.

i need to get over there and hit the guy up about it... never met him, but its one of those places that has never come across as being the friendliest to strangers...

on another note, i do alot of back road riding on the motorcycles and am always on the lookout for interesting stuff. my friends are always amazed at the things i find(even just buildings and things) and ask how. the answer is, i go where many wont. my bikes will ride down any road. thats how you have fun, use the damn things! i finally picked up a husqvarna supermotard last summer to ease the abuse on my Buells a little... lol.

the saturn with the trailer? its useful! ive got an 08 duramax 2500hd extcab 4x4 in the garage and use the saturn all the time... and i haul 3 bikes behind it on that trailer on occasion too... lol.

looked at this today, saw it as i was driving buy. the guy has 3 more in the barn but i didnt push to see those as it was 22 below zero and didnt want to make him come outside.

not alot of this truck left so didnt take much for pics, but explain the shift boot way up by the fire wall to me? it is bolted down, and there is a hole for it. but they never put a shifter that far up did they?! then there is a shifter back where i would expect. its a 2 wheel drive truck. has a green, manual on the floor steering column in it(which i want for when i put a stick in mine. it also has the funky 2 tone green and blue interior!

then this is the one i mentioned i spotted but hadnt looked at. stopped and you can see no one has been at the house. no tracks in any of the snow from this winter. i need to find the guy because id like a few parts if they will fit. from research(im not up on all the differences yet) this looks to be a 67? small window, hand brake, no side markers, and small arm rests(in aqua green which id like to use in my 70 gmc if anyone knows if they will bolt up??) it also has the aqua green spacers for the window cranks and door handles...

Re: spotted a few today...

anyone know if the armrests from a 67 have the same bolt pattern as the rest of the years? didnt have a tape along when i looked at this 67. and need some aqua green armrests for my 70. i know the style is different, but i actually like the look of the one this 67 had in it, plus havent come across the right style in the right color for mine anyway.

My 69 GMC has the boot up farther than my 71 4x4.. I think the wholde drive train sets forward more in the 2wd trucks.

damn, that is way up there! you can barely see, but there is one mounted in the more normal position currently. but i guess that front boot was factory!

Re: spotted a few today...

nope, no buddy buckets in it. atleast the cover over the seat seemed to smooth to not be a bench.

and its funny how once you get something(car/truck/bike/whatever), you start spotting more of them simply because now you are LOOKING for them!
