Parchment console paint question
I'm painting my center console parchment (matchs my seats and door panels).
Wondering if anyone painted the inside of their console a different color like black? I driving this truck daily but may have to stop with the new seats/interior installed. I'll have to wait and see. Thanks in advance for any info/pics. Mike Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Parchment console paint question
I'd like to offer you another point of view. I just completed a frame off with parchment buckets and door panels. After many truck shows and seeing the marred up parchment consoles (nicks and scratches after a few months) I went with a black console. Check out the pictures in the album on my profile and my build thread to see what parchment seats and black console look like.

Very nice look you have there but my med bronze paint, the parchment seats and saddle pad (they don't make a light dash pad anymore like the original), may look off with the black console IMHO. I like the look with your green though. It matches the black accents like the dash pad. Hers a pic of my seats and I'll add one of my panels too. Give me a second I gotta switch to the phone. Re: Parchment console paint question
I agree Mike, you have to pick the right colors with your build. Those are some nice looking door panels, are the EO or repops? The repops I've seem lately are real nice and fit great.

Re: Parchment console paint question
mike, I might be hog-tied for suggesting it, but I plan to install a soft rubber or felt liner inside my console so stuff doesn't clank around all over the place. Probably do it subtly/tastefully (hopefully) but still removeable - some velcro attach points perhaps. Just a thought. Might even go as far as making a custom divider for inside the console. My view on a console is like Vegas... "what goes on in the console, stays in the console" so I would have no reservations about doing whatever you feel would be helpful on the inside.

They are OEM...started with a good set. I soda blasted them then used SEM products to prep and paint them. Thanks to member 29OD1 I got the perfect match to the scroll covers. They go in tomorrow after the carpet. I have 4 other sets I'm thinking about redoing and selling. Anyway, I haven't owned a repop set as of yet. Quote:

Re: Parchment console paint question
ooH! bedliner is not a bad idea! It would also strengthen it and make it more crack-resistant.

Re: Parchment console paint question
Well here is the update on the cab/parchment console...
Removed the old and well used looking seat/cover and door panels. Cleaned the floor, doors and greased everything and while the door panels were off, replaced the mirror on the pass side. soundproofed the floor and installed the carpet then installed the new buckets door panels are in but I havent loaded the pics of it to download yet. take a look and laugh/comment if you'd like. the last picture is of the new brake pedal 29OD1 made me for install in the near future (much more foot area and look much better). Ill load some additional ones tonight, if I get time. Mike |

Re: Parchment console paint question
I recommend tool chest liners. You can buy them in rolls and cut to fit. Place as many layers as you want, and can still pull it up and out to clean the console. Adds a skid free layer inside the console. I have done this before. Trevor

Re: Parchment console paint question
Yep, I just cut a piece of flat rubber and set it in there, thought about cutting up an old floor mat. Painted inside parchment too and two toned the lid with sem saddle. Looks great, I've got pics in here somewhere, check the album in my profile.

Re: Parchment console paint question
Thanks for the ideas I'm going to get it done this weekend. Looks like parchment all over and liner or something in the bottom. Here's a pic of the truck with the interior in it.

Re: Parchment console paint question
Seats look high in front, are you using stock truck brackets or blazer?

Re: Parchment console paint question
Well satisfied or not I got the console painted. It took longer than expected but I was waiting on additional paint. At some point it received a very healthy assembly that stripped a few screw holes so I needed to address those. Ll the rivets were replaced at some point and it was drilled too large on each one except 3 so I had to make them all match. either way its going in) at least I can drive it still. If you see it just stay back 2 feet.
I definitely see why these go to such a premium from members that redo these on here. Mike Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Parchment console paint question
Youir interior looks super and looking at yours motivates me to get mine done. What paint, brand and color, did you use on your console. I am going to paint my console parchment to match the Highlander seats and door panels in my truck. I've searched and can't seem to fing a parchment paint from any vendor.
