pulling tranny got questions...
I am going to replace the 250 in old Grimm, it has a granny-low 4-speed that looks like it has a leak at the back. I want to pull it out as well as the engine.
From looking at the Haynes manual, it looks like there are 4 large bolts at the rear end of the bellhousing that need to come out and then the trans gets moved back and down to remove. Question is: Does the bell housing assembly come out at the same time the engine does? I am more familiar with auto trannys than I am this manual. Not exactly sure how to proceed... comments and suggestions are appreciated! thanks in advance. |

Re: pulling tranny got questions...
Yes the gear box will unbolt from the clutch and the bell housing. The bell housing will come out with the engine

Re: pulling tranny got questions...
The above is doing it the hard way. Much easier to unbutton the bellhousing from the back of the motor to pull it.

Re: pulling tranny got questions...
Thanks for the input. I have a tranny jack to put underneath, and then can undo the bellhousing bolts. I was just figuring to pull the trans out prior to the motor so I can dink with the leaky seal on the back of the trans.
I'll probably be back with another q or 2 thx |
