S10 Disc Brake Help. Please?

Swapping (or trying to) drums to disc on a S10 4WD rear for a 51 swap. Anyone know of a way to use parts from the local pull apart or Oreillys? Really could use the advice.

If you don't get an answer here, you might try posting the same question over on the S-10 area of this board.

Re: S10 Disc Brake Help. Please?

I put an 89 4x4 S10 rear in my 53 Sub. I was looking at it and noticed that the backing plates bolt on differently than the older rear axles do. 8.2, 8.5, truck 12 bolt etc. Unless there is something newer that uses this same pattern then we might be stuck going aftermarket. You might want to look at 94 and newer S10's and see how the rear disc stuff bolts on to them, might get lucky.
My Nova has 79 Cadillac backing plates and calipers and 79 Firebird rotors on it. They bolted right on.

Re: S10 Disc Brake Help. Please?

I actually have backing plates and calipers from a S10 4WD disc setup mounted on the axle now. I'm just going to load it in the truck and head down to the local parts store and see what i can come up with for rotors. How many diff ones can there be for an S10 4WD?
