Alternator bracket ??

I'm wondering what the correct alternator bracket is I jimmied this one on cause the one it came with didn't allow any adjustment but this one slams it against the valve covers. It's a 72 3/4 ton gmc not original engine I'm not sure what year it is Do you have pictures of your set ups ?? Thanks

Re: Alternator bracket ??

I believe the bottom is correct but the top that it came with did not seem right at all. The one that's there I put on just to get it home.

Wink Re: Alternator bracket ??

I don't know if it's correct year are not but it works fine and I have AC. I have spacers to make it line up correctly also. Been like this for 15 years with no belts ever being thrown off.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Alternator bracket ??

I'm not really going for year correct. From what I'm seeing. I'm thinking they had to short of a belt on cause it pulled the alternator clear back against the valve covers with no adjustment

Re: Alternator bracket ??

If you are using that bracket, go to autozone, or advanced auto and have them reference the belt #, there are 2 options, go with the one that is like 1/2" longer. I can't remember what the length was (I want to say 50 something inches?) I just did this too. My po had one that was way too long on it. I got the longer belt and there is just enough slack to get it on with the alternator against the valve covers, then adjust it out.

Sorry that's the best pic I have right now.

If you can see the bolt hole at the front of the manifold that is where the po had the bracket mounted which from ur guys pictures is wrong for this year guessing it was an 80s engine
